The Hydrogen Grand Prix was excited to welcome students from Lviv, Ukraine to the 2024 edition of competition in the Czech Republic, with 5 student-led Ukrainian teams joining 20 other teams from the Czech Republic entering the educational competition. The event was sponsored by the Ukraine in Europe Foundation in partnership with Moravia Steel and the University of Lviv, Ukraine.

“The support from Moravia Steel and the Ukraine in Europe Foundation has already had an impact on the educational attainment of these students, who are facing a difficult situation at home”, said Václav Bystrianský, H2GP Race Director. “We’re so proud of the growth these students have experienced over the past several months, designing and engineering their own hydrogen-powered car.”

Vaclav continued: “Seven years ago, Moravia Steel was the first organization to support the H2GP pilot project in the Czech Republic. This pilot project has grown into a global racing competition in over 20 countries with thousands of students. Their support has therefore been truly transformational in the lives of students around the world”.

This year, the H2GP program has grown to 20 countries and over 500 teams spread across Europe, the US and Australia. In the Czech Republic, a total of 28 teams will participate with 3 teams qualifying for the World Final, taking place September 9-12th 2024 in Anaheim, USA. In addition to the Czech team, teams from Slovakia, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Scotland, England, Switzerland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Australia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Mexico, Canada and the USA will also participate in the World Final later this year.
